My work

Some examples of the work I've done in client's gardens, through virtual gardening support and in my own garden...

Garden Services: Tidy & Regular Maintenance

Large back & front garden

My clients have a beautiful large garden with mature shrubs and some lovely planting, it just needed a little attention to get it back on track. Tidying up the borders and adding some fresh plants, has really given the garden some zing. It's such a great space, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it develop.

"I’ve just had a walk around the garden…the new plants look very happy as does the now potted hydrangea.  You have made such a difference to the garden in a matter of weeks…..thank you so much for all the hard work.

(Mrs. M, Banstead)

Long herbaceous border

My client has a lovely long herbaceous border, which over the years had become congested with perennial weeds, moss and unwanted wild-strawberries. Clearing the excess vegetation has made a big difference to this space and given the plants room to breathe.

"Thank you so much, I'm really pleased with how this is looking now"

Virtual Garden Support: Garden Review

Sophie's garden

Sophie & her husband recently moved into their first house with a garden and are really keen to get gardening. They have some great plans including putting in a new patio and wanted to understand more about the plants they already had, plus some ideas for what they could do in the future. I was able to identify their mystery plants and provide care tips for these, as well as offering guidance for development.

"I wish I'd reached out to Karen sooner after wasting lots of money at the garden centre buying plants that looked great for about a week but ended up withering away because they weren't suitable for my garden. As a first time garden owner Karen has taken me back to basics, helping me to understand what’s already in my garden and how to get my moneys worth when I do visit a garden centre (no more impulse buys and hoping for the best). Karen has taken the hard work out of gardening for me with her bespoke action plan and I can't wait to see how my garden develops over the next few months." (Sophie, Tunbridge Wells)

My Garden

My garden is on a fairly steep southwest-facing slope. The free-draining chalk soil is pretty poor nutrient-wise and really bakes in the summer. When we moved in, the garden was tiered, and laid to (very lumpy) lawn. There wasn't too much in the way of flowering plants.

I've developed this so the upper section is now a wildflower meadow with the pond, and the lower is a mix of prairie style & Mediterranean planting. I'm a huge advocate of creating spaces that work equally well for people as wildlife.
